Dear Lucas,
Now that's what I call a victory! On Tuesday night, Suzanne Bonamici won her hotly contested primary in the race to fill Oregon's 1st Congressional District House seat! She still faces a challenging general election in January, but thanks to your support, she is well on her way.
The EMILY's List community played a big part in Suzanne's victory on Tuesday, just as we have in House races throughout 2011. We've pulled out big wins in California and New York, getting us closer to our goal: to win back our House majority in 2012 -- and to do it with strong, pro-choice Democratic women, in just one year.
That's a big goal. It's doable -- we just need to win 25 seats. But it will take a massive, nationwide coordinated effort and every dollar counts. We've got one year to go. The time to start is now.
We need to reach our $100,000 goal by midnight on November 16 to get our campaign kicked off. Click here now to contribute to the EMILY's List "One Year Out" campaign and help us win back the House!
We've got great candidates, like Iraq veteran Tammy Duckworth, former Orlando police chief Val Demings, and progressive community leader Ann McLane Kuster. These are the kinds of women we need in Congress: smart, accomplished, and dedicated to public service. They can win if we stand behind them, united for victory.
With every one of these great candidates, EMILY's List is there to support them in all the most important activities for a campaign:
- Hiring and training staff.
- Designing campaign plans.
- Conducting polling and laying out winning messages.
- And when the time comes, making sure their message is heard.
I don't need to tell you what a massive effort this is going to be -- and we need your help. We have a lot of work to accomplish in 2012. That's why we're getting started now, a year before election day. If we hit our fundraising goal, then I know we can win big in a year and take back the House.
I'm excited about 2012. I'm excited about looking back one day and thinking about all our nearly one million EMILY's List members managed to accomplish in one incredible year. That hard work starts today. Thank you for your help.
Take care,
Stephanie Schriock
