Dear Lucas,
As we head into Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a second to give thanks for all the blessings in my life and ask that you consider lending a helping hand to a great cause that helps to empower women.
Long before I ever thought of running for office, I was donating clothing to a great non-profit organization called Dress for Success. For Dress for Success, getting off the sidelines means turning the lives of thousands of disadvantaged and disenfranchised women around by helping them get and keep a job that enables them to put a roof over their family's head and food on the table.
By providing a suit for a woman's first interview and then more professional clothing and support services once she gets the job, Dress for Success is devoting itself to helping women move forward, get out of abusive homes, out of shelters and into the workforce.
Dress for Success, which was started in 1997 in NYC and has helped over 600,000 women all over the world, is the very essence of getting off the sidelines. By helping thousands of women transition to the workforce every year, DFS gives women new lives and a newfound feeling of empowerment that comes with a meaningful job.
Women like Maria DiGiacomo, whom DFS helped get back on her feet both personally and professionally after a difficult divorce. Or Addie Adams, who went to DFS after losing her job and received clothing, makeup, resume assistance, and ultimately, with DFS's help, a new job in her field.
Thank you so much for getting off the sidelines by joining me in support of Dress for Success to help thousands of women transition to the workforce and to more fulfilling lives.
Wishing you and your family all the best this holiday season,
Kirsten
