HELP BARBARA RAISE $100,000

EMILY's List

Dear Lucas,

Handwringing is not a strategy, fighting back is. And that's exactly what we're doing in the U.S. Senate. The pro-choice women you've helped elect are the ones standing in the way of the Republicans hell-bent on rolling back our rights.

Every single day we stand up and speak out, saying "no way" to the far-right ideologues who want to turn back the clock on women. But we need more women to make that firewall stronger!

Just imagine what we could do in the Senate with incredible leaders like Tammy Baldwin, Mazie Hirono, Elizabeth Warren, and Shelley Berkley. I know these women, and let me tell you: they get things done.

We're one year out from Election Day, and EMILY's List is already in full gear helping to elect these women. EMILY's List needs your support right now to add new women's voices to our Democratic caucus and protect my pro-choice women colleagues up for re-election.

With our Senate majority hanging by a thread, we need these women! Click here to contribute to EMILY's List's "One Year Out" campaign today so they can raise $100,000 by midnight on November 16.

I'll say it plainly: there would not be 12 Democratic women in the Senate if not for EMILY's List. You helped me when I needed it most, back in 1986, and I became the first Democratic woman elected to the Senate in her own right. And now, with EMILY's List leading the way, we have 17 women in the Senate. In 2012, we can make that number bigger.

We need to reelect leaders like my friend Debbie Stabenow, who insisted that maternity care be included in health care reform and is helping move Michigan's economy into the 21st century. If we can do that and elect new women to join us, we'll be able to fight like nobody's business to protect women's rights, strengthen families, and create a strong, vibrant economy.

Just imagine these incredible leaders joining me in the Senate:

  • Tammy Baldwin, a standout progressive and fighter for women's health, who would continue making history as the first openly gay senator.
  • Shelley Berkley, a champion for seniors and veterans who's been called "the hardest-working woman in politics."
  • Mazie Hirono, a peerless advocate for early childhood education, making sure our kids can compete in the global economy.
  • Elizabeth Warren, architect of the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and consumer advocate extraordinaire, fighting to protect families' pocketbooks.

The best way to make sure they can take on the fight is by contributing to EMILY's List today! Please help me raise $100,000 by the midnight, November 16 deadline.

We're counting on you to protect our Senate firewall, and I know you'll come through for EMILY's List, just like you've done for me time and time again.

Sincerely,

Sen. Barbara Mikulski

P.S. They're saying 2012 could be the next Year of the Woman. But that won't happen if we let Republicans defeat all the women incumbents up for re-election. Join me in raising $100,000 by midnight on November 16 for EMILY's List's "One Year Out" campaign to protect our women senators and send in new women to reinforce our Senate firewall.
