Dear Lucas:

I'm excited to announce the launch of eLAP, a state-of-the-art, convenient and confidential electronic resource designed to help attorneys attend to their emotional and psychological well-being.

It is common for attorneys to focus on helping others and serving our communities. But sometimes it becomes necessary - for the sake of our clients, our families and our quality of life - that we address our own problems and concerns. Our profession can be extremely demanding, and unmanaged stress can cause or exacerbate a host of mental health issues.

Our Lawyers Assistance Program (LAP) has been helping lawyers address those issues for more than 20 years, offering confidential assistance in person or by telephone.  We are proud to announce a new, even more convenient way to take advantage of LAP services.  Our new website, eLAP, is available to assist you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  The site features more than 2,000 articles on mental health issues, assessments, self-help modules and access to direct email communication with a lawyer assistance professional.  After a brief registration process, you will be able to use eLAP's resources to learn more about issues related to stress management, mental health and substance abuse, or to seek answers to any questions you may have.  Most importantly, it is completely private and confidential.

I invite you to visit eLAP at www.nysba.org/elap and enter the access code NYLAP to explore all of the useful resources and information the site has to offer.

Sincerely,

Vincent E. Doyle III, President
