On Wednesday, by a vote of 86-31, the Florida House of Representatives approved a bill that will allow dog tracks in Florida to end live racing (while still offering other forms of gambling) -- potentially saving thousands of greyhounds from confinement, injuries and death.
That's great news, but before the bill can be sent to the governor's desk, it needs to pass the Florida Senate.
The greyhounds need your help! Please contact your state senator and urge him or her to support Senate Bill 1594. A quick phone call or email is all that is needed. For example:
"Dear Senator _____,
I am a resident of District __. I am calling to ask you to please SUPPORT Senate Bill 1594, which would remove the requirement that dog tracks host live racing in order to offer other forms of gambling."
