Dear Friend,
I'm writing to ask for your help in the upcoming Special Election to replace Representative Chris Lee in NY-26 on Tuesday, May 24th. The Democratic candidate, Kathy Hochul , has a real chance to take back a seat that has been held by Republicans for a long time, which would send a strong message that voters reject the Republicans' regressive and destructive agenda.
Remarkably, Kathy Hochul now has a slight lead over Jane Corwin (Republican) and Jack Davis (Tea Party), according to this week's DK/PPP poll. Jane Corwin made the mistake of endorsing the outrageous Republican plan to dismantle Medicare, and she is paying the price in the polls. The Republicans are clearly concerned about holding this seat -- they even dispatched House Speaker John Boehner to the district for a fundraiser and are pouring hundreds of thousands of dollars into Karl Rove-style attack ads. We need to respond with our own greatest asset -- you!
You can make the difference in this tight election by helping to get out the vote between now and election day, May 24th. Here's what the campaign needs right now:
