The closing of Saint Vincent Medical Center has had a devastating effect on the local economy and has been detrimental to the small businesses surrounding the hospital. More than 30 businesses have shut their doors since the closing and many of those that remain are struggling. The GVCCC, after reviewing the proposal and carefully weighing the alternatives, is strongly supportive of the North Shore-LIJ Health System and Rudin Management plan for St. Vincent's .
In order to keep our members informed and bring dynamic leaders in to talk with us, we will be hosting a lunch with lunch with Bill Rudin, CEO of Rudin Management, and leadership of the North Shore LIJ Health System in order to discuss their plans for the St. Vincent's Hospital site. The event will be held on May 24th, 2011, from Noon-1:30 at Tio Pepe , located at 168 West 4th Street, 10014.
GVCCC members can purchase tickets early online here or by calling us at 646-470-1773. For members tickets are $25.00 and $35.00 for nonmembers. Lunch includes a salad or soup, the main course comprised of: chicken, fish or vegetarian as well as coffee and dessert.
Remember, in order for us to continue to be a strong voice for local businesses in neighborhoods, it is important that we continue to get involved and stay active on issues facing our community. It not only provides our city with more vested citizens, but it helps you, as business owners, become a powerful voice in government.
Best,
Tom Gray
