Come out for the first Free Bike Fridays of the season! Borrow a bike for free for up to one hour.
Mark di Suvero on Governors Island: presented by the Storm King Art Center, May 27 - September 25
The exhibition is the largest outdoor presentation of Mark di Suvero's sculptures to be shown in New York City since the 1970s and includes loans from public and private collections, including a number of sculptures from Storm King's own celebrated installation of the artist's work. The exhibition is free and located throughout the island's vibrant public spaces.
Saturday, May 28: Governors Island Alliance presents the Family Festival, 12 PM - 4 PM
Join us for arts and crafts, storytelling, as well as musical and theatrical performances and harbor education activities for kids. Sponsored by the Governors Island Alliance. For more information, visit www.governorsislandalliance.org .
Sunday, May 29 and Monday, May 30: Brewer's Pic-NYC, Noon
The Governors Island season kicks off with the city's ultimate picnic. Event includes food vendors from tacos to ice cream to lobster rolls and other street food, beer, and live entertainment like ukulele and bluegrass musicians. Kids 12 and under are free with parents. Orientation to the History of Governors Island with the National Park Service, 11:25 am, 1:25 pm, and 3:25 pm
Join a National Park Ranger for this 45- to 60-minute walking experience to discover how the role of Governors Island evolved to meet the changing needs of New York City and the nation.

FIGMENT 2011 Burble Bup Pavilion
Come together in the Burble Bup pavilion, winner of the second annual City of Dreams pavilion competition. Burble Bup invites people to lounge and mingle in its soft and magical interior, upon plush soil tubes. The City of Dreams pavilion competition is sponsored by FIGMENT, ENYA, and SEAoNY. Empire Historic Arts Fund presents Designs for Living 1795 - 2011
A three-part exhibit that offers historic couture fashion and accessories from 1795 - 2011 including such icons as Worth, Balenciaga and Dior; 18th- and 19th-century wallpapers anchored to the architecture found on Governors Island as well as contemporary tonalist landscape paintings.
FIGMENT 2011 Sculpture Garden

Governors Island Ferry Schedule
Free ferries run from Manhattan on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Ferries leave from the Battery Maritime Building (10 South Street, adjacent to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal).
On Fridays, ferries leave from Manhattan every hour on the hour from 10 AM to 3 PM. Ferries return to Manhattan every hour on the half hour, with the last ferry returning at 5 PM.
On Saturdays and Sundays, ferries from Manhattan leave at 10 AM, 11 AM and then every half hour until 5:30 PM. Ferries return from Governors Island every half hour, with the last ferry returning to Manhattan at 7 PM.
Free ferries run from Brooklyn Bridge Park's new Pier 6 every Saturday and Sunday. The ride is a quick three minutes, so ferries run continuously from 11 AM to 5:20 PM. Ferries run continuously back to Pier 6 from 11:10 AM to 7:00 PM. Pier 6, Brooklyn Bridge Park is located at the foot of Atlantic Avenue at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Furman Street.
