Water Efficiency and Conservation
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) , water covers between 70 and 75 percent of the Earth's surface, but only one percent of that is available for human use. In addition, while both world population and the demand on freshwater resources are increasing, supply remains constant. Thus, the EPA established a water efficiency program called WaterSense . Its mission is to promote and enhance the market for water-efficient products and services . Through this national program, local water utilities, product manufacturers, and retailers work with the EPA to promote water-efficient products and practices among consumer and commercial audiences.
