Dear Member:
While the full toll of the devastation is still being assessed following the earthquake and tsunami, one thing is clear--the people of Japan need our help. Many people have asked what they can do to help. With critical infrastructure still severely damaged and a bottleneck of goods in the country, relief organizations are stressing not to send food and supplies at this time. Right now the most pressing need is for financial help. As an industry, we have always responded to such events with great compassion and generosity. In response, the City established the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Fund at the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City. They will ensure 100% of contributions (they are also covering any processing fees) are directed to reputable organizations that are providing disaster relief efforts in Japan.
In this way, we will demonstrate that not only does our industry care, but New York City cares.
