Racial profiling occurs when law enforcement officials use the race or ethnic background of an individual to determine whether to engage in legal enforcement. Can recent immigration laws enacted and proposed in states around the country, such as SB 1070 in Arizona, which requires illegal aliens to register with the U.S. government and to carry registration documents at all times, be considered racial profiling?
The panelists will discuss: The traditional concept of racial profiling and its application to the recently enacted immigration laws.
