Job Summary:

Come join a dynamic, innovative team of executive leaders.  The U.S. Census Bureau produces quality data that helps Americans better understand our country - its population, resources, economy, society and culture. We offer competitive salaries, flexible hours, developmental opportunities, a variety of benefits and health insurance plans, and other incentives. If working in an environment that values your individuality and diversity and allows you to innovate, engage in problem solving, and achieve your professional goals appeals to you, then the Census Bureau is the place for you. Join the Census Team and contribute to the fabric of our nation.

The U.S. Census Bureau is seeking a highly-motivated and capable individual to serve as the Chief, Human Resources Division (HRD).  The HRD provides HR management services for the Census Bureau, the Economics and Statistics Administration (ESA), and the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA).  The division also services 12 Census regional offices each of which employs a permanent staff of approximately 300 persons and temporary employees in numbers fluctuating in the thousands.

The responsibilities of the Chief, HRD embrace every conceivable facet of human resources administration.  The dynamic nature of Census Bureau operations, with its workforce expansion and contraction, has a profound impact on human resources operations, which present a continuous series of organizational and operational challenges differing in degree and type from other federal HR operations.

This position is a Senior Executive Service (SES) career-reserved position.  Positions in the SES are not graded.  SES pay is commensurate with qualifications.  SES employees are eligible for bonuses and awards based on performance.  Veteran's preference is not applicable to SES.
