ANDREW CUOMO 2014

"This is a tribute to Cuomo's leadership. He set a hard, credible target for spending cuts, then challenged health care participants to find necessary savings. Industry pros rose to the occasion." - NY Daily News 2/27/11

Dear Lucas,

New York State is facing a fiscal crisis. One reason is that our Medicaid costs have been totally out of control.

Let's look at the numbers.  New York spends twice the national average on Medicaid and spending per enrollee is the second highest in the nation.  However, our state ranks only twenty-first in results. This is not good for our taxpayers or our Medicaid recipients.

Governor Cuomo, in his State of the State address, announced the formation of a Medicaid Redesign team to find ways to reduce Medicaid costs and deliver better quality healthcare for New Yorkers.  This team consisted of healthcare providers, union representatives, professional experts and legislators from throughout New York.

Last week, the Team submitted its historic plan that met the Governor's target to save over $2.3 billion.  The plan also redesigns the Medicaid program to make New York a leader in innovative patient-centered healthcare programs.

The plan has received strong support all across the State.  Click here to read a New York Daily News editorial praising the "breakthrough" plan.

The next step is for the State Legislature to act on this plan as part of the state budget. And your voice can make a difference.

Contact your state legislators today and urge them to pass these vital reforms and help protect the future of our great State.

Thank you.
