I have urgent news: with less than a month until election day, EMILY's List candidate Janice Hahn is under attack -- and it's the most offensive, racist, sexist ad I've seen in all my years in politics. The ad, which supports tea partier Craig Huey in the special election in California's 36th district, is so demeaning that we couldn't send it to you. It shows a pole dancer with an image of Janice Hahn's face pasted over hers. It depicts African-American men as criminals waving guns and stuffing dollar bills in the pole dancer's clothing. It uses obscene language and objectifies women in the crassest manner imaginable.
This vile ad shows just how far Janice Hahn's opponents will go to defeat her, and we can't take this kind of appalling behavior sitting down. Janice needs resources right away to fight back against these inexcusable attacks and defeat Craig Huey and his far-right allies.
Frankly, I am still in shock at what I've seen -- and the lengths that Craig Huey's supporters will go to smear Janice so viciously. We immediately called on Huey to denounce this ad, and as we send this email out, he is still silent.
The right wing is hell-bent on demeaning women -- our community, California's voters, and our country are better than this, and we must make that absolutely clear.
Support Janice Hahn's campaign immediately and help her defeat this message of hate.
