On Friday, June 17, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will present a proclamation at the grand re-opening of Monte's Restaurant, the legendary Gowanus eatery first opened  by Angelo Montemarano as Angelo's in 1906. Once a speakeasy in the Prohibition era and later a hangout for the Rat Pack and other colorful characters from Brooklyn and beyond, the landmark restaurant closed in 2008.
