BeFitNYC Fitness Festival
Sunday, June 12
11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Washington Square Park
As the grand finale of Make NYC Your Gym Week that began on June 6, the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene and NYC Parks, in partnership with Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, will host the BeFitNYC Fitness Festival on Sunday, June 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Washington Square Park in Manhattan.
BeFitNYC is an online search engine for free and low-cost fitness opportunities across New York City that has been enhanced this spring to improve search functionality and allow users to encourage friends and family to join in fitness events through Facebook.
To celebrate these enhancements, the BeFitNYC Fitness Festival will showcase some of the greatest fitness findings in all of NYC. Adults and children of all ages can come to Washington Square Park to get fit with friends, and play almost any sport in New York City: from basketball with the New York Knicks Groove Truck and New York Liberty legend Kym Hampton, to volleyball, to biking...and even quidditch! Professional instructors from Equinox will lead free outdoor zumba and IntenSati classes, and there will be demonstrations of running, biking, outdoor walking through Walk NYC, the adaptive sport of handcycling, and more. There will even be a MillionTreesNYC Watering Blitz, teaching you how to get fit while making the city green!
To RSVP, visit BeFitNYC.org and download the BeFitNYC Facebook Application. In addition to the BeFitNYC Fitness Festival, you can search for thousands of fitness classes, events, and programs through BeFitNYC!
