Dear Friend-
I want to take a moment to wish you and your family a very happy Father's Day.
I feel especially lucky and proud because this week I will get to speak at my son Dante's graduation from Middle School 51 in Brooklyn. Looking back on the great experience he and my daughter Chiara have had at our city's public school's, I know that they would not be who they are today without the dedication and guidance of their teachers.
This father's day also comes just two weeks before the City budget will be finalized, and as of today, the Administration is still planning to eliminate over 6,000 teaching positions from our schools. As public school parents and New Yorkers, Chirlane and I believe that our children's education should be as important to City Hall as it is to us.
