Celebrate Community Preparedness Day in Harlem
On Saturday July 9th, the American Red Cross in Greater New York is hosting the Centennial Circle for Community Preparedness Day with Harlem Children's Zone. This is a great opportunity to learn important skills that can help keep you and your family safe in an emergency. The training will be offered in both English and Spanish at 10 am, 11 am, and 1 pm. Make it a Cool Roofs summer!
NYC °Cool Roofs is an exciting collaboration between NYC Service and the NYC Department of Buildings to promote and facilitate the cooling of New York City's rooftops. Applying a reflective surface to a roof helps reduce cooling costs, cut energy usage and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Join us as we coat New York City rooftops to make a greener, greater New York!
Get Ready for Summer Streets
Be an invaluable part of Summer Streets, New York City's best summer event! For three consecutive Saturday mornings in August, city streets, from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park along Park Avenue and connecting streets, will be temporarily closed to motor vehicles and open for the public to walk, bike, skate, run, and play! Every summer, thousands of children are offered free meals at select sites throughout the City. Join Share Our Strength on Saturday, July 16 for a day of community outreach, and help distribute informational materials promoting free summer meals to program partners in key locations. Rebuilding Together
Rebuilding Together New York City repairs the homes of low-income home owners and community center facilities at no cost to the recipient. Their programs include home accessibility for low-income disabled New Yorkers, help with home repairs for U.S. veterans and service members, and community center renovations.
