Dear Lucas,
Six weeks ago, we joined with the Ansara Family Fund of the Boston Foundation to issue a serious challenge to supporters like you: raise $25,000 online this summer, and the Ansara's will match every dollar. I'm writing today to let you know the goal is firmly in our sights.
We only need to raise $6,500 more to beat our goal. If you want your gift to Share Our Strength matched dollar-for-dollar, the time to give is now.
Our No Kid Hungry campaign solves a problem vital to the well-being of America's children, but that problem isn't a lack of food. The challenge is connecting food to the kids who desperately need it where they live, learn and play. Awareness remains one of the biggest obstacles to overcoming childhood hunger in America, and with your help, we can overcome that obstacle and make sure all families know where their children can get meals.
Remember, every dollar you give helps connect a child to 10 meals. And during our summer match campaign, your $50 gift becomes $100, your $100 gift becomes $200, or your $250 gift becomes $500! There is no better time than now to join Share Our Strength and help connect kids to summer meals programs.
Karen Ansara -- who is generously matching your gift today -- has five teenage kids and can't imagine any one of them going hungry, let alone 17 million kids across the U.S. That's why she is challenging each of us to support the No Kid Hungry campaign: "Go beyond offering a can of soup. Help food pantries, soup kitchens, youth programs and government agencies work together to provide healthy food for America's neediest children -- especially in the summer."
Karen's right -- ending childhood hunger goes beyond a handout. We can only successfully connect kids to the nutritious meals they need to be healthy, active and happy by working together at every level -- starting with you!
This summer, do your part to make sure kids don't go hungry when school ends. Please take advantage of this generous match offer to double the impact of your gift -- where your gift of $50 becomes $100, $100 becomes $200 and $250 becomes $500.
Thanks, as always,
Billy Shore
