I am conducting an executive search for the Area Director of Government Affairs for Cablevision, one of the nation's leading media and entertainment companies (which provides, provides industry-leading services to more than 3 million New York area households).
The Area Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key democratic public officials at the local, state, and federal level from New York City to help build support for the company's positions. These responsibilities include the legislative, government affairs, local franchising, regulatory, and public affairs areas for New York City.
With input from Corporate Government Affairs and Education, this position will also be responsible for developing and executing public affairs strategies and events using the company's assets to build relationships and enhance the company's presence in New York City. In coordination with the other New York regions, this position will oversee the execution of the Meet the Leaders programs with key state and local public officials on a regular basis in New York City, Albany and Washington, DC with the congressional members.
Candidates need to have the following credentials:
• 10 plus years experience in political and community relations with government agency or a company that interacts with government
• Excellent relationships with public officials, government and community leaders as well as third party groups
• Extensive knowledge of local, state and federal government, with particular experience with New York City as well as legislative and executive branches of government
• Ability to interpret and convey company policies and positions
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Highly sophisticated ability to handle multiple, diverse tasks with consistent success rate.
