MORE HYPOCRISY?

dccc_logo_nyreblog_com_.jpgLucas --

Days from now House Republicans will hold an outrageous vote to repeal health insurance reform to take away the protections that middle class families finally have against the worst insurance company abuses.

As Leader Pelosi said, this is our first big test of how we'll respond to the Republicans' despicable efforts to roll back our progress and put corporate special interests back in charge. We are fighting hard to make sure at every turn we are there to hold them accountable.

And so far, your response has been overwhelming. But we're still $43,185 away from making our $100,000 grassroots goal by Wednesday's vote to help us hold Republicans accountable.

Put us over the top with a generous contribution before Wednesday to help us hold Republicans' feet to the fire for trying to repeal health care reform.

Now, for all of the other latest happenings in this first official week of the new Republican Congress, check out our newest edition of @Stake.

Republican Health Care Hypocrisy

Watch Chairman Israel on Hardball They may be voting to repeal health care reform that makes coverage more affordable for others, but that hasn't stopped House Republicans from still demanding government-funded health care benefits for themselves. In a stunning act of hypocrisy, every House Republican voted this week to hide their own government-funded health care, despite campaigning against government-funded health care for their constituents. Check out video of DCCC Chairman Steve Israel on Hardball this week, calling out House Republicans for their health care hypocrisy. Republican Hypocrite of the Week: John Boehner, Promise Breaker Republican Speaker John Boehner said yesterday, "Gone are the days when the Constitution is ignored." Well except that didn't last long... Swearing-In by TV Later that day, Republican David Dreier was making the case that Congressman Pete Sessions was a sworn Member of Congress because he watched the oath of office ON TV while at an event with Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick's supporters. He couldn't explain why Speaker Boehner actually swore in Sessions and Fitzpatrick on the House floor today. Check out the picture of Sessions and Fitzpatrick watching the oath of office on TV... apparently "telecommuting" their oath to support and defend the U.S. Constitution. BUT WAIT, THAT'S NOT AT ALL During the campaign, then-House Minority Leader John Boehner pledged to cut $100 billion from the federal budget, almost immediately. But in his first week as House Speaker, the only think Boehner did almost immediately is to renege on that number... by a lot by focusing on repealing health care and adding billions to the deficit. For breaking one of the Republicans" biggest campaign promises in record time, the DCCC is making new House Speaker John Boehner our Republican Hypocrite of the Week. With so many more House Republican hypocrites waiting to be exposed, please give us your nominee for Republican hypocrite of the week. Tea Party Caucus Chair & GOP Radical Michele Bachmann Leads Effort to Repeal Wall Street Reform She's baaaack. Tea party extremist Congresswoman Michele Bachmann made a splash this week by introducing a bill to repeal Wall Street reform. Bachmann's bill would bring back the days when Big Banks were left to police themselves, just as they were right before they nearly sank our economy. Stay tuned for more updates on this so we can stop Bachmann's outrageous effort and hold all of her tea party allies in Congress accountable for it. Just think, it's only week one of the new Republican Congress. With so much more still to come, stay tuned for more updates from @Stake. Thanks again for all of your support. Robby Mook
