Dear Friend,
The Office of the Public Advocate will be celebrating the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. through a Day of Action & Community Outreach on Monday, January 17th. We will have staff and volunteers out at four locations across the city, and we want your help.
In the wake of last week's tragic shooting in Tucson, Arizona, the Public Advocate is partnering with two anti-violence organizations doing extraordinary work in New York City: the Man Up Campaign and LIFE Camp . We will be handing out fliers outside of several events on Martin Luther King Day encouraging individuals to make donations and volunteer with these two worthy organizations.
Join us on Monday for our Martin Luther King Day outreach in four neighborhoods.

The Man Up Campaign works to build a global community of individuals and organizations dedicated to educating youth about violence in our communities. The group works to provide support structures, constructive learning environments, and spaces to share ideas in order to encourage youth to speak up against the forces that cause violence against women.
LIFE Camp is an organization that seeks to provide positive development for youth, with an eye towards prevention of gang violence, drug abuse and incarceration. LIFE Camp partners with media figures in the New York City area to provide positive mentoring environments to at-risk kids and to teach youth do develop their own voices about who they are and the direction of their lives.
