Citizen Action of New York

Metro New York Health Care for All Campaign

Join community leaders throughout the borough to develop a public plan of action to prevent further hospital closures and strengthen health care in Queens.

HERE ARE SOME FACTS:

  • Queens alone has had 3 hospital closures in the last 5 years.
  • Queens has 1/3 the hospital beds as Manhattan and 1/2 the hospital beds as New York State.
  • Governor Cuomo is proposing $2.85 billion in Medicaid cuts, or $5.7 billion with the loss of matching federal funds.  These cuts could lead to more hospital closures and decreased access to health care in an area that is already medically underserved!
