Dear Lucas,
Americans' trust in Congress is at an all-time low. People have good reasons for it, and after a 60 Minutes report about insider trading, they have one more.
The report showed that members of Congress can legally take part in insider trading - using information that comes across their desk to make personal investment decisions.
This practice is just plain wrong.
That's why I've introduced the STOCK Act, to increase transparency and prohibit members of Congress from engaging in insider trading.
Senator Sherrod Brown and I are working hard to pass this bill, but we need your help.
Once my colleagues learn about this bill, it can gain more bipartisan support. But they need to know that the American people demand that their representatives abide by the same laws as everyone else. Stand with us by calling on Congress to pass the STOCK Act now.

Throughout my career as a public servant, I've championed complete transparency and accountability in government. That's why I was proud to testify in front of a Senate hearing yesterday on the importance of the STOCK Act. The American people need to be sure that the actions of lawmakers are for the best interest of the country, not for their own self-interest.
But members of Congress are getting a free pass to make money from the abundance of confidential information given to them each and every day.
We need to put an end to this practice once and for all. That's why it is so important for you to put your name on this petition today.
Restoring people's faith in government is critical right now. Passage of the STOCK Act will go a long way toward doing that.
Sincerely,
Kirsten Gillibrand
