Saturday, August 13: Rite of Summer (ROS) Classical Music Festival, 1 PM and 3 PM
The first ever classical/contemporary music festival to be held on Governors Island kicks off its inaugural season with a series of exhilarating, fun outdoor concerts on Colonel's Row.  ROS is curated by Artistic Directors/NYC-based pianists Blair McMillen and Pam Goldberg. This second concert features the genre-bending rock/electronica-inspired string quartet ETHEL . Saturday, August 13: Bass Nectar Concert, 11:30 AM -- 11:30 PM
The Bassnectar team is thrilled to bring you the first ever BASS ISLAND adventure, part one in a spellbinding trilogy of music, art, and culture that will unfold on the beautiful South Island Field at Governors Island, New York City this summer. A hundred vintage Volkswagens will be bumper-to-bumper at picturesque Picnic Point on Governors Island for a colorful car show and picnic that is open to all. Meet classic beetles, buses, Karmann Ghias, dune buggies, and other beloved VDubs circa 1954-1979 from NYC and beyond. "People's choice" wins this car show...and spectators attend free!
