Dear Lucas,
Over the last couple of weeks, the first meetings of the Governor's Regional Economic Development Councils have taken place.
These councils created by Governor Cuomo and headed by Lt. Governor Duffy are designed to maximize local expertise and create more jobs within each local region. Each council will consist of local leaders from business, labor, academia, local government, and community organizations.

The Regional Councils represent a fundamental shift in the state's approach to economic development, from a top-down model to a community-oriented approach that emphasizes each regions' unique assets and empowers communities to stimulate regional economic development and, most importantly, create jobs that we all need throughout our State. The Councils will coordinate the State response to regional needs and ensure the government is a facilitator of job creation and not an impediment as it has been too often in the past.

The ten Regional Councils cover the Capital Region, Central New York, Finger Lakes, Long Island, Mid-Hudson, Mohawk Valley, New York City, North Country, Southern Tier, and Western New York. For more information, just click here .
Working together, region by region, we will put people back to work and get our economy back on track.
Thank you.
