![]() I hope you are enjoying the summer! I am glad to be back in the district and meeting with many of you in my office and at various community events. Though the summer is usually a quieter time in the City, many issues that have been percolating for months are finally bubbling to the surface, such as hydrofracking. As you have probably heard, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has released a draft plan on hydrofracking that would open up 85% of the Marcellus Shale to fracking. The DEC will commence a 60-day public comment period in September. On September 15, I will be hosting a Speak Out on Hyrdrofracking with a panel of experts and activists who will help explain the plan and what is at stake. You will then have a unique opportunity to stand up, town hall-style and ask questions of the experts or provide comments, which we will send to the DEC. We hope to see you there. And, just last week, Governor Cuomo signed one of my bills into law. The new law will go a long way to protect the victims and survivors of domestic violence and make sure that their abusers are brought to justice. Scroll down to read more. Hope to see you at the Speak Out, and as always, please feel free to drop by the office, call or email me with any questions, problems or just to say hello. Have a great summer! Sincerely,
Linda B. Rosenthal Member of Assembly |
