WANNA GO TO HIGH SCHOOL?

new_york_city_council_banner_nyrebog_com_.gifDear New Yorker,

It has come to our attention that approximately 8,000 eighth graders in New York City do not yet have high school placements for the fall.

We understand this can be a nerve-wracking time for families and students and are committed to working with families and the NYC Department of Education (DOE) to provide support during this difficult time.

Tomorrow night the DOE is hosting an information session for families who are still seeking high schools for their children.  We realize that's awfully short notice, but we wanted to help spread the word that the DOE was hosting this important event.  Details are listed below:

Tuesday, April 5th

6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Martin Luther King Jr. Educational Campus

122 Amsterdam Avenue (at 66th Street)

Manhattan

High school admissions counselors and school representatives will be available at the session to speak with students and families about their high school options.  For those who can't make it, additional information about the high school admissions process can be found on the DOE's website at  http://schools.nyc.gov/ChoicesEnrollment/High/Admissions/default.htm

If you or anyone you know has any questions or concerns about this or any other school-related matter, please feel free to e-mail us at  speakerquinn@council.nyc.gov

Folks can also contact their local Council Member ( http://council.nyc.gov/html/members/members.shtml ) and/or the DOE at 718-935-2399.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Christine C. Quinn
