TRACE-ABLE Public Performance Art Intervention Series Hector Canonge initiates a series of monthly presentations in collaboration with Lawrence Graham-Brown and Antonio Ortuño. The public art project at Manuel de Dios Unanue Triangle Park at 83rd and Roosevelt Ave in Jackson Heights, Queens, consists of covering the park's sidewalks with a large canvas where the artists will perform choreographed tasks, engage the public, and walk barefoot leaving footprints to raise awareness about present issues affecting the city. Saturday, April 16, 4-7 PM Trace-Able: VIOLENT in observance of Immigrant Heritage Week in New York City, it references the violence against immigrants and other minority groups in the streets of NYC, and other major urban centers in the US. Saturday, May 21, 4-7 PM Trace-Able: HABITAT references the ever changing living conditions of many residents in local neighborhoods. This second event relates to housing, gentrification, homelessness, shifting demographics, and the environment. Saturday, June 4, 4-7 PM Trace-Able: HOMOGENIUS celebrates June Pride Month in Queens and NYC. The event observes Gay, Lesbian, and Transgender people's accomplishments & contributions to society and the LGBT movement.
