Dear Lucas,
Plain and simple: the anti-choice, anti-woman Republicans in Congress have an agenda, and it's dismantling women's rights. Just yesterday, the House voted to defund Planned Parenthood, and because EMILY's List women voiced our outrage over the political bargaining of our health, the Senate voted against it. We just can't put up with these endless attacks: the anti-woman Republicans in the House have got to go, and we've got to fight like hell to keep our women in the Senate.
The GOP came close enough to getting what they wanted that you can be sure they're gonna try and try again to do everything they can to roll back our rights and limit our access to health care. Will you give to EMILY's List today so we can elect more pro-choice Democratic women and keep our firewall in the Senate against radical Republican attacks?
Because of advocates in Congress and your grassroots support, the Republican plan to defund Planned Parenthood has been stopped -- for now. But don't forget: while we've won this battle, the war against women rages on, and we can't let our guard down for a second. What's on the line? Funding for family planning, cancer screenings, and HIV/AIDS prevention, not to mention prenatal care and essential social safety nets -- in our words, our health and our rights.
Here's the thing about these right-wing extremists: they're not going to give up on trying to defund Planned Parenthood and their war on women. That's why I'm asking: contribute today to EMILY's List so we can fight back the most effective way possible -- by electing more Democratic women to Congress.
