It's Earth Day today and Public Advocate Bill de Blasio is calling on all New Yorkers to recycle their non-working old electronics!
In the City Council, Bill wrote and passed New York City's landmark E-Waste law, the first law by a major city to create a recycling program for electronic waste. The legislation recently went into effect, making it easier than ever to recycle your old computers, cell phones and other electronics. Click here for details .
The Public Advocate's Office is kicking off this recycling effort by bringing our old computers and outdated equipment to be recycled. Can you take a moment to gather your old electronics and join us?
There are e-waste recycling events across the city over the coming month where New Yorkers can safely dispose of household and portable electronic devices including:
- Laptop and desktop computers
- Accessories like printers, scanners, fax-machines, copiers, keyboards, mice and cables
- TVs, VCRs, DVD Players
- Cell phones

Thank you for joining us in making a difference this Earth Day. Let Bill know what you've recycled by sending him a message on Facebook and Twitter !
Best,
Matt Wing
