Dear Friend,
Last week Public Advocate Bill de Blasio launched a new survey and ARISE Coalition announced a series of "speak-outs" for parents of students with disabilities as part of a citywide effort to draw a spotlight on the state of special education in New York City.
In the next 500 hours, we want 500 parents to take this survey. Can you help? Please forward this email to your friends and contacts. If you are a parent or guardian of a student with disabilities, please take the survey online at http://bit.ly/NYCsurvey and encourage others to do the same.
Recent reports suggest that the school dropout rate for students with disabilities is as high as 23.8% in New York City. As the Department of Education begins to reform special education over the next couple of years it is imperative that parent voices are heard to better inform public policy.
Please help shine a light on special education needs in New York by taking the online survey at http://bit.ly/NYCsurvey The survey is short and will just take a couple minutes of your time.
For more information on upcoming parent "speak-outs" please go to: http://www.arisecoalition.org/
Thank you for help spreading the word about this important effort.
