One year ago next Wednesday, the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, claiming 11 lives and resulting in 4 million barrels of oil pouring into the Gulf of Mexico.
Those most impacted by the catastrophe that started on April 20, 2010 have been living with the consequences of the disaster ever since.
Join us in sending a note of encouragement to the residents of the Gulf Coast.
Both BP and Congress have yet to do what is necessary to make the region whole again.
Public Citizen has crafted a "get well" card that you can sign to show your support for your fellow citizens in the Gulf Coast and for legislative provisions that will help the Gulf get on the road to recovery.
Add your name to the card along with a message of support for the people of the Gulf Coast.
We will deliver the card to two activists who have spent the last several months raising awareness by walking from Louisiana to Washington, D.C. They arrive in D.C. today and return to Louisiana to take part in regional memorial activities on the 20th.
Ecological crises like the BP oil disaster take an emotional, physical and financial toll on people who live in and depend on the affected areas.
Please take a moment to send your good wishes to the people of the Gulf Coast by signing the card here:
