Bing to Host Social Networking and Internet Safety Forum for Seniors
Assemblyman Bing, in conjunction with Facebook and Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, will host a forum on social networking and internet safety for seniors. The forum will feature discussions regarding the use of social networking sites to enhance communication with family and friends, and internet safety issues such as posting personal information online, avoiding online identity fraud, and recognizing advertising scams. The event will be held on Friday, May 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Senior Center located at 619 Lexington Avenue between 53rd and 54th Streets. Assemblyman Bing has been a leader in the effort to combat identity theft. This session, he has worked closely with the Manhattan District Attorney's Office to author A. 3838, a comprehensive piece of identity theft legislation which streamlines and modernizes the identity theft statutes to give law enforcement the tools they need to effectively prosecute perpetrators of identity theft.
