Office for Victims of Crime (OVC)
The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) is a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) . The OVC provides federal funds to support victim compensation and assistance programs across the United States. They also provide training for professionals who work with victims, develop publications, support projects to enhance victims' rights and services, and educate the public about victim issues.

National Observances
OVC also sponsors the annual National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW) . During this week, rallies, candlelight vigils and other commemorative activities help to promote victims' rights and to honor crime victims and those who advocate on their behalf. In 2011, the NCVRW will be from April 10 through April 16 .
National Night Out (.PDF document) is a crime/drug prevention event held the first Tuesday of every August (first Tuesday of October in Texas). Its purpose is to increase crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anticrime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
