WANT A CAREER IN CASTING?

mayor_office_film_theatre_broadcasting_nyreblog_com_.jpgOn Saturday, October 9, 2010, the Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, part of the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, and Teamsters Local 817 will present "Made in NY": Careers in Casting for Stage and Screen - a free panel discussion featuring casting directors who work in film, television and theatre.

Comprised of members of Teamsters Local 817, the labor union that represents casting directors, "Made in NY": Careers in Casting for Stage and Screen will give interested New Yorkers the opportunity to hear first-hand from people who have found success in the field of casting in New York City. In addition to sharing their personal accounts working in different genres, the panelists will also offer career advice about becoming casting directors based on their own experiences breaking into the industry. A Q&A session will follow.

The panel is free, open to the public, and will take place during Show Biz Expo ( www.theshowbizexpo.com ) at the Hilton New York Hotel (1335 Avenue of the Americas, Manhattan). Additional details, including how to RSVP for the discussion, will be available on  nyc.gov/film  later this month.
