October 6 Theme: Crime:
Collar: The Movie (116 minutes)What would you do if everything you thought you knew about life suddenly turned upside down? That is the situation in which Detective TJ Williams finds himself. This scintillating police drama will have your heart racing and mind running to keep up. Produced by Willy-Gilly Productions, Inc., which is headed by Nan Mia Gill and David Patrick Wilson, Collar won the 2010 Best Police Drama Award at the 19th annual New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. Collar was written and directed by David Patrick Wilson, who also plays Detective Williams. Ms. Gill will attend the screening.
Short Film: L'Accordatore (The Tuner) (13 minutes)
An old piano shop is the setting for this dark tale about a piano tuner and the effect his work has on an unsuspecting public. The Moving Pictures Collective of New York City called the film "a richly lensed short film that is both intimate and loving, though sometimes in a perverse sense." Fresh off the heels of the 2010 LAShortfest, where it was an Official Selection, this film has made its way across the globe, gathering awards from many prominent film festivals. It won "Best Short Film" at the 2010 Las Vegas Film Festival and was chosen as an "Official Selection" at the 2010 Philadelphia Independent Film Festival and 2010 Rincon International Film Festival in Puerto Rico. L'Accordatore's screenwriter and director, Tomax Aponte, and producer, George Elias, will attend the screening.
