MORGAN STANLEY SIGNS ON

public_advocate_logo_de_blasio_nyreblog_com_.jpgDear Friend,

Yesterday marked another big win in our campaign to keep corporate dollars from overrunning elections. In an interview on CNBC  Public Advocate Bill de Blasio announced that, at our office's urging, financial titan Morgan Stanley has adopted a new policy that renounces the unlimited spending on political campaigns allowed under the Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling.  That makes three major banks that have voluntarily decided to say "no thanks" to the corrosive practice of using their corporate treasuries to influence elections.

This victory comes on the heels of a similar policy change at JP Morgan last week. There is now a real movement underway in corporate America, one that began with and is sustained by the letters, emails and phone calls to corporate headquarters from people like you. Keep it up! Contact another company listed on our online Corporate Spending Tracker and tell them to follow Morgan Stanley's example.

Thank you,

Matt Wing
