Pedro Espada is the poster child for Albany dysfunction, and his behavior in elections is not better. In 1989 he temporarily shut down 3 polling sites in the South Bronx until police officers responded to restore order and issued summonses. In 1992 he had his workers inside the polls asking voters who they were voting for. Persons voting for his opponent or who refused to answer were told that their poll site had been moved several blocks over and sent away. In his last campaign, he stationed trucks bearing his name for food distribution in front of every poll site. His food distribution "program" is already underway.
We know that he can get away with it only if no one is watching. So please consider volunteering either all day or whatever part of the day you can on Primary Day, September 14, to protect the vote in the 33 Senate race. Poll watching operations to prevent voter disenfranchisement are being set up in the district. Training will be provided prior to election day. Please consider giving whatever time you have available on Primary Day. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
If you can help, please contact Brad Usher, our election day coordinator, at (347) 693-4640 or email him at bradusher@gmail.com
Thank you,
