Kathleen has been an advocate for victims and communities and an active defender of equal justice under the law throughout her entire career. She has gone up against the world's largest corporation, has taken on New York City's most violent criminals, and has held the hands of the smallest victims in her pursuit of justice. The attorney general's office can be a powerful force for equality and justice, and under Kathleen's leadership, it will be.
In 2005, Kathleen ran for Nassau County district attorney against a 31-year Republican incumbent and national leader in the anti-choice movement. When she won, she shocked the political establishment and became the first woman district attorney in Long Island's history.
As district attorney Kathleen has ensured that gender equality and women's issues are a top priority in her county. Immediately after taking office, she eliminated a 33% gender pay gap and appointed the first two women executive prosecutors in the office's 112-year history. She has strengthened the office's representation of victims of domestic violence, sex crimes, and child abuse. Nobody in this race will fight harder than Kathleen for New Yorkers who need protection the most.
Kathleen needs our support to win this race. There are a number of ways you can do this.
