Last Friday, Public Citizen President Robert Weissman appeared as a guest on "Countdown With Keith Olbermann" and provided expert commentary on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's agenda to create an America of the multinational corporations, by the multinational corporations, for the multinational corporations.

Watch Public Citizen President Robert Weissman expose the hypocrisy of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on "Countdown With Keith Olbermann."

The host of MSNBC's popular nightly news program started the segment by noting that the Chamber opposes the use of lawsuits that hold big business accountable yet uses lawsuits itself to thwart government regulation, adding "This would seem to be something of a contradiction. Can you explain the dynamic here?"

Here's how Robert responded:

"It's plain and simple -- the Chamber of Commerce gives hypocrisy a bad name. They think people who are victims of corporate crime and wrongdoing -- defective products, dangerous drugs, rip-off contracts -- should not have the right to a day in court. They think big business should have a right to use, abuse and misuse the courts to block government from enforcing rules to protect all of us."

Right now, the Chamber is spending $75 million in political campaigns all around the country. Its objective? Put people in Congress who will answer to giant corporations. Keep people out of Congress who will fight for ordinary Americans like you and me.

Stay tuned for upcoming alerts from Public Citizen about how you can get involved in our ongoing work to check the power of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the corporate behemoths behind it.

Onward,
