LOOKS LIKE TIM BISHOP IS LOSING

dccc_logo_nyreblog_com_.jpgGary --

Rep. Tim Bishop in New York's first district is still locked in a too close to call battle. On Election Night, he was up by nearly 3500 votes and now after a recanvass of the machines, and the beginning of what could be an extremely costly recount process, we are seeing a dramatic swing of votes in the other direction!

It's clear we need to make sure every vote is properly counted and have the legal teams on the ground to avoid the nightmare that happened to Al Gore in 2000.

Please help our friend Rep. Tim Bishop with his goal of raising $25K today -- he is almost there and a generous gift from you could put him over the top. We are confident Tim Bishop has won this race but he needs immediate resources to make sure the remaining tens of thousands of uncounted absentee ballots are counted and the process is fair and accurate.

Subject: Help Every Vote Count
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Friend --

I can't thank you enough for all your hard work and generous support of my campaign.

The fight has been long and hard. But, it's not over, and I must once again ask for your help.

Our 3461 vote lead on Election Day is now a 383 vote deficit after a recanvass of the voting machines. This dramatic swing of approximately 4000 votes and reports of problems at polling places on Tuesday make clear we must do everything we can to ensure that every single vote is properly counted.

We are in the beginning stages of what could prove to be a costly process. And, you can bet the Republicans are sending resources, legal teams, and staff to help our opponent.

Here's what you can do today to help count every vote:

The vote count released last night is one of many steps to ensure that every voter's voice is heard. In fact, 10,600 absentee and affidavit ballots still haven't been counted.

The integrity of the electoral process is frankly more important than even the result of this election. And for that reason, we must do whatever it takes to count every vote, including a full hand recount of the ballots. Suffolk County residents insisted on having a paper backup in the new machines to document every vote, and these circumstances demand we recount them all.

Thank you for your continued support and your patience.

Best,

Tim Bishop

P.S. Contributions to the Bishop Election Protection Fund do not count against your 2010 federal limits, so please be as generous as possible.
