Dear Lucas,
Thank you. Thank you for everything you have done for our campaign. Thank you to all of you who donated to this cause. Thank you to all of you who volunteered to make calls, to go door to door, and to build a better future for our region.
Even though we didn't get the outcome we wanted, it is not right to call this a loss. As Americans every election is a victory, because as difficult and contentious as any race may get, in the end we are not really fighting one another, we are fighting for the same things. Having seen how hard you have worked for this campaign and how many days and nights you have committed yourself to this cause, I am more confident than ever before that we are on the verge of a better future for Upstate New York.
My father once told me that it's not just about how you fight, it's also about the environment you're fighting in. Well, with a wave against us, we knocked on over 120,000 doors. We made over 300,000 phone calls. That's just unprecedented, and I am forever grateful for the faith, hard work, and dedication that you have given to our campaign.
As for me, I'm a lucky guy. For four years I have had the opportunity to represent some of the hardest working people of Upstate New York. I will always cherish this experience as the honor of my life.
Thank you for giving me that great honor,
Mike
