Search and Care is hosting an open house for new volunteers for their Pet + Elder Empowerment Project (PEEP) on Wednesday, December 1st from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Search and Care Office located at 1844 Second Avenue (between 95th and 96th Streets).

This small community non-profit helps frail elders remain in their own homes as long as safely possible, and they are recruiting volunteers to help low-income seniors by providing essential pet-support services they can no longer perform.

Volunteers are needed to provide an occasional dog walk, litter change, bird cage cleaning, shopping for pet supplies, or taking a pet to and from vet appointments. They are also welcoming volunteer teams of owner and appropriately-trained dogs for friendly visits to homebound seniors to combat isolation.

An RSVP is required for the open house. Please contact Robin Strashun, Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator at Search and Care, to RSVP or for more information at 212-289-5300 ext. 203.
