The GOP may be pleased as punch about their new leadership team, but for those of us who care about fair representation and all American voices being heard, it's pretty sad stuff. It's truly disappointing -- though not exactly shocking -- that John Boehner's picks for Republican leadership are just more of the same. We're talking good ol' boys club -- up to no good.
So who are Boehner's cozy cronies? Some real gems, let me tell you. We have Eric Cantor, who cosponsored a bill nicknamed "Stupak on Steroids." Then there's Kevin McCarthy, who founded the "Young Guns" program and would just love to privatize Social Security. Last but not least: Jeb Hensarling, a self-proclaimed "original tea partier" and recipient of that special Boehner wink of approval.
Do Boehner's Boys sound like they represent all of us? I sure don't think so. That's why EMILY's List has launched a new initiative with this goal: Tell John Boehner that he and his boys do not represent America. We need leadership that gives voice to everyone -- not just the guys at the country club.
