A "HERO OF REFORM"

MZKCampaignEBannerBigger

Dear Friend,

It's an incredible honor to serve as your Assembly Member, and every day I work hard to repay the trust you've placed in me. In these especially challenging times, I'm dedicated to being part of the solution.

That means leading the fight for reform in Albany. I am the sponsor of the most comprehensive anti-corruption legislation in state history, along with important bills to clean up campaign finance laws, require an independent redistricting process, crack down on government waste, and put Assembly business and public records on the internet. For all these efforts, I've been endorsed by good government organizations including Citizens Union and Citizen Action, named a "hero of reform" by Mayor Ed Koch's New York Uprising, and lauded by Our Town newspaper as a "needed voice of reform."

Despite Albany's dysfunction, I've been able to pass common-sense measures that will make a real difference in the daily lives of New Yorkers. I'm proud to be the author of Elle's Law, which protects pedestrians by getting dangerous drivers off the road, as well as of a new law that will protect four million people with chronic and life-threatening diseases from prescription drug price gouging at the hands of insurance companies. When Albany leaders tried to impose a tax on mammograms, I led the successful fight to kill this outrageous proposal. And I have been an unshakeable opponent of proposals to allow natural gas drilling--commonly known as hydrofracking--in our city's watersheds.

I know the challenges facing this community. That's why I've worked to bring relief to Second Avenue merchants decimated by subway construction, introducing legislation to give them rent reductions that will help their businesses survive. I've staunchly opposed the Mayor's plan to build a waste transfer station in our neighborhood. And, to turn the tide against school overcrowding, I was able to bring two new elementary schools to the East Side.

It really is possible to make Albany work--that's why I'm so passionate about what I do. Tomorrow, on Election Day, I hope that I can count on your vote so I can continue fighting on behalf of the East Side and Roosevelt Island - and I hope that you will encourage your friends and family to cast their votes for me as well. I pledge to you that I will never stop fighting to make New York a better place.

If you're not sure where to find your polling location, can look it up here . If you encounter any problems at the polls, please call my campaign at 917-250-1748 right away to let me know, and I will make sure the problems are addressed.

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful support.

Very truly yours,

Micah Z. Kellner
