We can all relate to that sentiment -- I know that I certainly can. My mother, Betty, and my wife, Sabrina, play an enormous role in my life and in my position as Congressman. So today we take time out to honor our mothers for all they do to nurture us, support us, and make our lives better.
I will continue working to help moms where they need it most -- to continue improving education and opportunities for children and families alike, through job creation and improving our quality of life.
As District Attorney in Oneida County, I created the first Child Advocacy Center in New York, which is now a model for CACs across the state. These centers protect our children and provide assistance for needy families. In Congress, I have secured funding for the "Stop ACES" program to reduce the effects of childhood abuse and neglect on our youth. I also secured funding to create additional programming for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and expand existing programs for pre-school and school age children.
I'd like to join everyone today in wishing a truly Happy Mother's Day to our moms. Thank you all for your selflessness and love.
