TAKE THE BP PLEDGE

public_citizen_banner_nyreblog_com_.jpgLucas,

We have to hold BP accountable for the fatal and catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Take the "Beyond BP Pledge" to boycott BP!

This is just a first step. You'll be hearing from Public Citizen about ways to keep the pressure on BP to comprehensively repair the ecological damage, make full and prompt reparations to every person whose livelihood is affected, and pay appropriate damages in court.

I know there aren't any good oil companies, but this one has been devastatingly bad.

BP chose not to install a $500,000 safety device that could have prevented this disaster. A company that made $21.6 billion in profits in 2008 alone refused to spend $500,000 to safeguard us (not to mention itself) from what's turning into the worst oil spill of all time.

BP has pleaded guilty in just the last few years to two crimes and paid over $730 million in fines, penalties and settlements for environmental crimes, willful disregard for workplace safety, and energy market manipulation.

There are other places to buy gas, chips and soda.

We have to make BP pay for putting people and our planet in peril.

Pledge to boycott BP now!

Thank you,

Glenn
