On Friday, May 14, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Deputy Borough President Yvonne Graham will host a press conference by the New York City Health Department, the Borough of Brooklyn Ecumenical Advisory Group (BBEAG), American Heart Association and Long Island College Hospital to kick off the annual "Cut the Salt, Brooklyn!" campaign in recognition of National Hypertension Awareness and National Stroke Awareness months. The campaign is aimed at highlighting hypertension prevalence in Brooklyn; facts about salt intake and its relationship to hypertension; hidden salt in processed foods; and ways to limit salt intake to prevent and/or control hypertension. 

"Cut the Salt, Brooklyn!" will also host a free blood pressure screening event on Saturday, May 15, at Brooklyn's Atlantic Center Mall, across from Carol's Daughter, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
