Latinos Mobilize Against Anti-Immigrant Arizona Law
Compiled by the National Institute for Latino Policy
A recent AP story observed that the Arizona anti-immigrant bill illustrated the low profile of Latino community leadership. Noting how the Rev. Al Sharpton's presence in the national media on the Arizona issue overshadowed that of Latino leaders, it gave the impression that Latino leaders were not at the forefront of the campaign to denounce and fight against the Arizona bill.
NiLP received a number of comments from our members echoing this and wondering where our Latino leadership was on this issue. Below we compiled a list of Latino leaders and organizations that have taken positions and actions on the Arizona bill, many of which you can join in. The list is not exhaustive but gives an idea of how the Latino community is mobilizing on the Arizona issue.
We hope you find this listing useful.
